How Wegovy® Tablets work.

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics the body's natural GLP-1 hormone. It reduces appetite, slows gastric emptying, and increases feelings of fullness. The SNAC excipient allows the semaglutide peptide to survive stomach acid and be absorbed in the stomach lining, which is why the empty-stomach administration ritual matters: food in the stomach interferes with absorption.

How is Wegovy® oral semaglutide different from the injection?

Both use the same active ingredient (semaglutide). The injection is once weekly. The tablet is once daily on an empty stomach with up to 4 oz of water, with a 30-minute wait before eating or drinking. Trial outcomes for the injectable are reported on the Wegovy Pens page.

What's the empty-stomach routine actually like in practice?

Wake up, take one tablet with up to 4 oz of plain water, then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other oral medications. Most clients build it into their morning routine alongside getting ready. If skipping breakfast or fasting in the morning already feels unrealistic, an injectable like Wegovy® Pens or a flexible oral like Foundayo™ may be a better fit.

How long until I see results?

Most clients see initial weight changes within the first few weeks, but the trial data is reported at 64 weeks. Weight loss continues across the dose titration. Maintenance dose is 25 mg daily, reached by stepping up the dose roughly every 30 days under clinician guidance.

Can I switch between the Wegovy® pen and the tablet?

Yes, but only under clinician supervision. Novo Nordisk supports both delivery formats for the same molecule. Your Maximus clinician will determine the right starting dose if you're switching.
