FAQs about the At-Home Testosterone Test
Is this a needle-free blood collection system?
Our at home blood testing kits, dubbed Tasso devices, utilize a small lancet instead of needles. The testing device sticks to the skin with a light adhesive and when the button is pressed, a vacuum forms so that a tiny lancet can prick the surface of the skin. The vacuum draws blood out of the capillaries and into a compatible container attached to the bottom of the testing device. Maximus customers frequently report how easy and nearly painless the device is to use.
Does it hurt to collect blood with the Tasso device?
On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the most painful and 1 being the least painful, our testing devices are a 1. Most of our patients do report their experiences as a small, gentle prick that is nearly unnoticeable.
Does someone need to be trained to collect blood with a Tasso device?
No! We include comprehensive instructions and links to instructional videos that allow anyone to be able to use these devices.
How many times can each Tasso device be used?
Each testing device can be used once.
How many times can someone sample in a single day using Tasso devices?
The limitations on how many samples can be collected depends on the real estate available on your shoulders. Most of our protocols require only one sample collection, with two collections being the maximum on specific protocols.
What is the regulatory status of the Tasso device?
The Tasso+ collection device is a 510(k)-cleared Class II Lancet and CE Marked (European Conformity) device that collects liquid samples of whole capillary blood. [[https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfpmn/pmn.cfm?ID=K221131
,In August 2022, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the Tasso+ as a Class II medical device. ]]
What kind of samples does the Tasso device collect?
The Tasso device collects liquid samples of whole capillary blood.
How much blood is collected?
Blood volume is dependent on the type of tube used but averages 200-600μL, and the entire procedure takes no longer than 5 minutes.
How do I know if the basic or advanced test is right for me?
The advanced test is required for a doctor to prescribe any TRT protocol, this includes: Oral TRT, TRT Gel, Injectable TRT, and all combination protocols.
If you have never treated your testosterone, or already know you are interested in trying enclomiphene, the basic test is perfect for you.
